Our Team

Experts

In mosquito management

MCS are a company that specialise in providing services relating to mosquitoes and other biting insects. Having operated in Australia and some other parts of the South Pacific since 2000, the New Zealand branch of MCS was formed following the successful bid for the National Saltmarsh Mosquito Surveillance Programme.

Many of our staff worked in the southern saltmarsh mosquito eradication programme from 1999-2008. This was a world-first eradication success and enabled team members to perfect methods for "hunting down and wiping out" the last of the Aedes camptorhynchus found in NZ. Following that, many continued on in the national surveillance programme. Staff come from various backgrounds and over the years have combined their expertise to develop and improve methods  for early detection of exotic mosquito species.

Our team have been quietly working away in the background on mosquito difficulties for years. We hope to minimise risk in Australia, and keep NZ free of mosquito-borne disease.

Although our focus is early detection, we are also experienced in ground and aerial treatments. We are ready to carry our necessary treatments with the following certifications: Approved Handler, Growsafe, National Certificate in Agrichemical Application Level 4 Aquatic,  Registered Chemical Applicator

Down Time

We have five entomologists, each with a minimum of 13 years experience specialising in mosquitoes.

We use the latest technology to record our findings. Our team are encouraged to share any ideas for improving field work.

Some of the team enjoy fishing, hunting, home-curing meats, making cheese, vege-gardening or brewing beer and wine.
